Originally named La Blanquière, the property has seen its name evolve over the centuries and through anecdotes: according to legend, a discreet but determined ancestor, wife of a regent of the Banque de France, regularly came to inspect the premises, hence the nickname La Banquière. Owned by the same family for over 200 years, the estate was originally a summer house managed by staff while the family lived in Paris. It was not until the end of the 20th century that it became their main residence.
The building itself has undergone two major periods of change: one around 1830 and the other around 1900. It is said that a loving husband, on his return from a trip, had the house built to surprise his wife, who was passionate about Italy and Switzerland. The original tower remains from this period, bearing witness to a family history that is as romantic as it is timeless.

1834
In 1834, the Château became part of the family following a final ruling by the Civil Court of Montpellier. This moment marked the beginning of a long family history, made up of hand-overs, attachments and transformations, which would shape the unique soul of La Banquière over the generations.
1900
Around 1900, François Durand had the current Château La Banquière built as a gift for his wife Henriette. Inspired by their honeymoon in Italy, he imagined an elegant residence in the style of the villas overlooking the Italian lakes. This gesture of love gave the estate its romantic charm and unique character.
2000
In the 2000s, faced with a significant wine crisis, the family decided to start a new chapter for La Banquière. The estate reinvented itself as a reception venue, dedicated to shared moments, family and professional events, while preserving the soul of the place and its deeply rooted heritage.
2025
In 2025, after more than two centuries of family history, Château La Banquière is starting a new chapter. Moving away from its role as a private residence, it has become a venue exclusively dedicated to receptions, stays and events, combining the charm of historic buildings with modern contemporary comforts.
